The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Archie Cinamon (ASN: 1306540), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Machine-Gun Company, 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bellicourt, France, 29 September 1918. Private Cinamon, a runner, carried many messages under heavy fire. At one time when his platoon was held up by machine-gun fire he, with another soldier, refused to take cover, but delivered effective rifle fire until the machine gun was silenced, thereby enabling his platoon to continue its advance.
