The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Curn Christenberry (ASN: 98227), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company L, 167th Infantry Regiment, 42d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Souain, France, 16 July 1918. After having been wounded Private Christenberry remained courageously at his post under heavy shell fire, and not only afforded an inspiring example by that fortitude but rescued comrades who had been buried when a shell caved in their trench.
