Cayer (ASN: 2315048), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company B, 38th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, during the heaviest bombardment at the Battle of the Marne, 15 – 19 July 1918, near Mezy, France, Private Cayer showed utter disregard for personal safety in going out, on numerous occasions, and bringing in wounded comrades.
