The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Carmen Frank Calbi (ASN: 1709580), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company I, 308th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Grand Pre, France, 14 October 1918. Sergeant Calbi, with two others, made a flank attack upon an enemy machine-gun nest. He rushed through enemy machine-gun fire and captured the gun.
