    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) Frank J. Burbank, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 103d Infantry Regiment, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, west of Bouresches, France, 20 July 1918. After his company had suffered severe casualties Lieutenant Burbank reorganized his company under heavy machine-gun and artillery fire. He then led his organization in the attack on Hill 190. He was the first to enter the enemy trenches and personally captured a machine gun, with its crew. Due to his gallantry, the objective was reached and held.
