The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Clarence H. Bunyard (ASN: 1305272), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company A, 113th Machine-Gun Battalion, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bellicourt, France, 29 September 1918. Corporal Bunyard, wounded soon after the opening of the attack, continued to lead his squad until he was incapacitated by a second wound.
