The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Charles E. Brundrett (ASN: 64374), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company D, 102d Infantry Regiment, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Seicheprey, France, 20 April 1918. Although surrounded on all sides by the enemy, and with his ammunition entirely exhausted, Private Brundrett offered a most stubborn resistance to the enemy’s attack, fighting his way through their ranks with his rifle and bayonet, to the support platoon, where he again took up the fight.
