The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Corporal Frank Brown (ASN: 545204), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company A, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Mezy, France, 15 July 1918. Having been detailed to carry rations to another company of his regiment, and learning, upon his arrival there, that an attack was imminent, Corporal Brown volunteered and remained with the company commander. He continued on duty long after he had been mortally wounded, and was killed in action later in the day.

No. 43, W.D., 1918), Corporal Frank Brown (ASN: 545204), United States Army, is cited (Posthumously) by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company A, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, although he had been detailed to carry rations, Corporal Brown voluntarily stayed on the firing line with his company commander, where he fought bravely until he was killed, 15 July 1918, near Mezy, France.
