The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Dewey S. Brown (ASN: 1320297), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company E, 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bellicourt, France, 29 September 1918. Wounded twice at the start of an advance, he remained in command of his platoon, carrying it through to a position near its objective, when he was wounded a third time and forced to retire. His personal courage was an inspiration to the men under him.
