The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal George R. Boustead (ASN: 102480), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company M, 168th Infantry Regiment, 42d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in France. Corporal Boustead distinguished himself northeast of Chateau-Thierry, France, on 28 July 1918, when, as the leader of a squad of four men, he raided an enemy machine-gun nest held by twelve Germans. As a result of this daring work one of the enemy was killed, the other eleven captured, and their four machine guns turned upon the retreating foe.
