    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Thomas P. Bane (ASN: 1307266), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company C, 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Busigny, France, 9 October 1918. Corporal Bane, while leading his squad in the advance with his company, was wounded by a machine-gun bullet in the head. Despite his wound, he continued in the advance until the objective was reached and the position consolidated. Corporal Bane on the day previous, in company with two companions, rushed a nearby machine-gun nest, killing five of the enemy and capturing the remainder.
