Baldwin (ASN: 97121), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 167th Infantry Regiment, 42d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Landres-et-St. Georges, France, 15 October 1918. In an attack on the Cote-de-Chatillon, disregarding all personal danger, he repeatedly went over shell-swept areas under heavy machine-gun fire to give first-aid treatment to the wounded and carry them to shelter.
