The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private First Class Thomas Arsenault (ASN: 1679188), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 306th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bazoches, France, 27 August 1918. With an utter disregard for his personal safety, Private Arsenault rescued a wounded officer and carried him across an area swept by a withering machine-gun fire to a dressing station, preventing the capture of a wounded man by the enemy.
