    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Wagoner Nick Adler (ASN: 2357310), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Supply Company, 120th Field Artillery, 32d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near St. Gilles, south of Fismes, France, 8 – 20 August 1918. Through the operations near the Vesle River, covering a period of 12 days, Wagoner Adler delivered hot meals to the firing battery at great personal risk due to enemy shell fire. The battery position and all roads leading to them were subject to frequent enemy fire, but this soldier on every occasion delivered the meals to the battery without delay.
