Templeton, United States Navy, is cited by the Commanding General, SECOND DIVISION A.E.F., for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Chief Pharmacist’s Mate Templeton distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving as a Corpsman attached to the Sixth Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, American Expeditionary Forces. During the operations near Mont Blanc, France, 30 – 31 October 1918, he distinguished himself being unmindful of personal danger, his only thought being for the wounded men on the field of battle. He labored untiringly rendering first aid to the wounded and carrying them to a place of safety on stretchers.

During extremely heavy shell fire Chief Pharmacist’s Mate Templeton carried wounded several hours, loading thyem into ambulances, assuring their safety at the risk of death to himself.
