The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Captain (Retired) Asher Carter Baker, United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. Captain Baker served with distinction as Naval Representative with the Transportation Department. Through his extensive naval experience, untiring zeal, and intimate knowledge of the French language and customs, he rendered services of inestimable value to the American Expeditionary Forces.
