The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant Commander William W. Wotherspoon, United States Navy, for distinguished service in the line of his profession as Force Salvage Officer on the U.S.S. Favorite, in which capacity he performed exceptionally reliable and meritorious service, especially in the salvage of the S.S. WESTWARD HO, U.S.S. WESTBRIDGE, U.S.S. MOUNT VERNON, U.S.S. CONNER, and U.S.S. MURRAY.
