The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Fireman First Class Frank J. Trudeau, United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished conduct while serving on the U.S.S. Wickes at the time of an explosion on the U.S.S. O-5, at the Navy Yard, New York, on 5 October 1918. Fireman First Class Trudeau, with another man, hurried to the scene of the accident, entered the submarine, and assisted in taking out injured and overcome men.
