During the operations near Blanc Mont, France, 2 – 10 October 1918, Pharmacist’s Mate First Class Smith distinguished himself being unmindful of personal danger, his only thought being for the wounded men on the field of battle. He labored untiringly, rendering first aid to the wounded and carrying them to a place of safety on stretchers.
