The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant General Donato Antonio Tommasi, Italian Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Judge Advocate General of the Italian Army, General Tommasi performed his exacting duties with high conceptions of justice and loyal devotion to the common cause. By his unfailing desire to aid the American forces in every possible way he did much to further the harmonious relations which existed between the two armies.
