    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General Charles Bonham-Carter, Royal British Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As General Officer in Charge of Training at British General Headquarters during the period the 2d Army Corps was in the British Expeditionary Forces, General Bonham-Carter rendered exceptional service to the U.S. Army. His knowledge of training methods was extensive, and with loyal cooperation he gave us the benefit of his experience.
