The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Major General Pierre E. Berdoulat, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I, while Commanding the 20th Army Corps, French Army, with the 1st and 2d Divisions, American Expeditionary Forces. General Berdoulat’s gallant and conspicuous services are connected with the deeds of the 1st and 2d United States Division in the counterattack south of Soissons, July 1918.
