The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal (Posthumously) to Colonel (Corps of Engineers) James Francis McIndoe, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. Colonel McIndoe rendered valuable services in bringing his unit to a high state of discipline and training which manifested itself later in all operations in which it participated. Later, as Director of Military Engineers, a position of great responsibility, he rendered services of much worth.
