The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General [then Colonel] Albert C. Dalton, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I as General Superintendent, Army Transport Services, and Quartermaster, Port of Embarkation, Hoboken, New Jersey, from 1 November 1917 to 5 November 1918. General Dalton displayed marked ability as an organizer and administrator, having under his supervision thousands of employees and subordinates. By his energy, capacity, and ability to get results he rendered services of great value to the Government.
