    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel (Ordnance Corps) Adam Floy Casad, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As Deputy Chief Ordnance Officer at General Headquarters, American Expeditionary Forces, Colonel Casad exercised conspicuous initiative and sound judgment in the supervision of ordnance activities. With tireless energy he organized and administered the work of the Ordnance Department in the zone of the Armies. As representative of the Ordnance Department at Chaumont, he showed wide vision and full comprehension of conditions and needs of the service, working with exceptional devotion to prevent any stoppage in the supply of ordnance material.
