The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Carol Walker (ASN: 2264876), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company K, 363d Infantry Regiment, 91st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Waereghem, Belgium, 31 October 1918. Without assistance, and in the face of heavy fire, Sergeant Walker killed an enemy machine-gunner and captured his machine-gun, which had been pouring a deadly fire on our forces.
