    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Corporal John E. Kamb (ASN: 67089), United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Corporal Kamb distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 103d Infantry Regiment, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Chatillon-sur-Lein, France, 20 August 1918. Corporal Kamb, while in charge of a squad of men, in conjunction with Corporal Kierstead, voluntarily went out in front of a well-fortified enemy machine gun and succeeded in capturing and killing the entire crew.
