    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class Enoch L. Austin (ASN: 1322863), United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private First Class Austin distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 115th Machine-Gun Battalion, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action at Vaux-Andigny and Molain, France, 10 – 11 October 1918. While acting as runner, Private Austin crossed and re-crossed area swept by enemy artillery and machine gun fire, and established and maintained liaison between infantry battalion headquarters and machine-gun battalion headquarters, company headquarters and the various other platoon headquarters.
