By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Frank M. Adams (ASN: 1256626), United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Sergeant Adams distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company D, 108th Machine-Gun Battalion, 28th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action at Apremont, France, 1 October 1918. With only a few men of his section left and the enemy at close range, Sergeant Adams remained at his post and directed the fire resulting in driving away the enemy.
