No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class Christian Smith (ASN: 1958481), United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private First Class Smith distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company E, 308th Engineer Regiment, 83d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Dulcon, France, 6 November 1918, in assisting in the rescue of a wounded officer and enlisted man while under heavy enemy shell fire.
