The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Brevet Lieutenant Colonel of Artillery Leon E. De Cointet, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Head of the 2d Bureau, French General Headquarters, Lieutenant Colonel De Cointet placed every facility in his power at the disposal of officers of the American Expeditionary Forces. The cooperation he extended to us was hearty and sincere. He rendered us distinguished and valuable service and played an important part in our successes. At all times he acted with tact and energy and showed himself a loyal friend.
