The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel of Colonial Infantry Marie M. E. Alerme, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Assistant Chief of the Cabinet of the Minister of War, charged with the management of Franco-American affairs, by his tact, good judgment, and loyal spirit of cooperation with the American authorities, Lieutenant Colonel Alerme has rendered important service to the American Expeditionary Forces.
