The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel (Infantry) John W. Wright, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As Assistant Chief of Staff, G-3, at Headquarters, Services of Supply, Colonel Wright was charged with the important duty of directing the movement of troops arrivals, billeting, and the supply of initial equipment of units. He at all times displayed indefatigable zeal and administrative ability of a high order, rendering services of signal worth to the American Expeditionary Forces.
