The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel (Corps of Engineers) Harry M. Trippe, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As Commanding Officer of the 308th Engineers, 83d Division, a position of great responsibility, much of the engineering success in facilitating the progress and supply of the 3d Army Corps during the Meuse-Argonne operation is due to his efforts and ability. He rendered important services to the United States.
