The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Julius Aaronson (ASN: 1811631), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company K, 148th Infantry Regiment, 37th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Apremont, France, 7 October 1918. When his company was suddenly fired upon by enemy machine guns during an advance and forced to seek shelter Private Aaronson remained in the open under a continuous shower of machine-gun bullets, caring for eight wounded men, dressing their wounds and securing their evacuation.
