The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Private Louis Zuckerman (ASN: 1697852), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 305th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near St. Juvin, France, 15 October 1918. In order to enable his platoon to locate an enemy machine-gun nest, Private Zuckerman courageously volunteered and went out into an open field to draw the enemy fire.
