    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Corporal Andrew C. Morrow (ASN: 306719), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery C, 76th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Corporal Morrow showed extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty in action. On 15 July 1918, near Chateau Thierry, France, he volunteered to carry a message to the forward Observation Post through the heavy barrage of gas and high explosive. He succeeded in this, and returned with valuable information which could have been received in no other way.

While serving with Battery C, 76th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private Morrow showed conspicuous services in battle on 15 July 1918, near Petit Bordeaux Woods, France, in reconnoitering for enemy targets and bringing back information to the 10th Field Artillery and to the 214th French Field Artillery concerning the location of attacking groups of the enemy.
