By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class Jack Doyle (ASN: 1038351), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private First Class Doyle served faithfully and courageously with his battery throughout the actions on the Marne, at St.. Mihiel and in the Argonne, and during the engagement on the Marne was telephone linesman, rendering valuable services in maintaining communications between his battery and the battalion headquarters, frequently making repairs under heavy shell fire and being on duty for three days without rest.
