By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Cook James C. Morrissey` (ASN: 1038287), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Cook Morrissey served faithfully and efficiently with his battery during the actions on the Marne, at St. Mihiel, and in the Argonne. During the Marne engagement and in the Argonne he kept his kitchen up with the firing battery, providing the men with meals under great difficulty and while subjected to severe shell fire, and by his cheerfulness and courage in the face of great danger was at all times an inspiration to his companions.
