By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Corporal Charles A. Delamater (ASN: 1038349), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Corporal Delamater served his battery courageously and faithfully throughout the entire actions of the Marne, St.; Mihiel, and the Artonne. During the Battle of the Marne he acted as messenger between his Battery and Battalion Headquarters and succeeded in getting through with messages when all communication was destroyed by shell fire, exposing himself frequently to great danger, and by his courage and devotion to duty was an example to his companions.
