    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Arthur Chamberlain, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with the Medical Detachment, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, on the night of 14 July and the morning of 15 July, Sergeant Chamberlain showed greatest of courage and an absolute disregard of enemy shell fire in organizing relief stations near St. Eugene, France, for the purpose of evacuating wounded. Sergeant Chamberlain’s courageous conduct in quickly getting to the rear wounded soldiers, saved the lives of a great number of men who would otherwise have died.
