The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Private Robert Marshall Teachey (ASN: 1319726), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company B, 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Ypres, Belgium, 2 August 1918. Private Teachey volunteered to accompany an officer on a daylight patrol to destroy an enemy pillbox. With great courage under heavy shell and machine-gun fire, they rushed the pillbox, killed or wounded the occupants, and accomplished their mission.
