Spivey (ASN: 731815), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company B, 6th Infantry Regiment, 5th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Romagne, France, October 14 – 18, 1918. Sergeant Spivey set a splendid example to his men while in command of a platoon under severe machine-gun fire, personally capturing two machine-guns.
