Serving with the Royal Air Force during World War I, Eugene Coler became a TRIPLE Ace, credited with shooting down 16 enemy aircraft in aerial combat. After the war he became a doctor in New York City, but returned to service in the U.S. Army Air Forces in World War II as a pilot in the 319th Bombardment Group. In 1951, he returned to service once again, with the United States Air Force. He was assigned to the 7th Air Division as the air division’s flight surgeon at the time of his death.
