Morton (ASN: 2339313), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company H, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Les Evaux, France, 10 July 1918. After being badly wounded, Private Morton continued to perform his duties as runner at a relay post on the front line under heavy machine-gun fire.
