    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Guisippe Minardi (ASN: 545342), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company A, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, during the battle of 15 July 1918, Private Minardi conducted himself with the greatest coolness and bravery, setting a splendid example to the rest of the men. After the company was ordered to withdraw about 6:00 P.M. on 15 July, Private Minardi voluntarily returned to the position his company had held near Crezancy and throughout the night of 15 – 16 July assisted in evacuating the wounded. [A Distinguished Service Cross was awarded for this action.]

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Giuseppe Minardi (ASN: 545342), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company A, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Crezancy, France, 15 July 1918. During the engagement Private Minardi set an example to the other members of his company by his gallant conduct. After the company was ordered to withdraw, he voluntarily returned to the position his company had held, and throughout the night assisted in evacuating the wounded.
