Maxie (ASN: 1287300), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company B, 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Brabant, France, 8 October 1918. Corporal Maxie, in company with, four other soldiers, attacked, without support eight machine guns, and overcoming the desperate resistance of the enemy captured both guns and crews.
