The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to First Sergeant John Marsh (ASN: 2261295), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company K, 362d Infantry Regiment, 91st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Eclisfontaine, France, 1 October 1918. First Sergeant Marsh was painfully wounded by a shell fragment, but refused to go to the rear. Remaining with his company under heavy shell fire, he continued to perform his duties.
