The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal John C. Lowe (ASN: 2266478), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company C, 364th Infantry Regiment, 91st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Leeuwken, Belgium, 31 October 1918. With three other soldiers, Corporal Lowe skillfully worked his way under heavy fire to the Sank of a machine-gun nest, which was holding up the advance of his platoon with enfilading fire, killed six Germans and captured three machine-guns.
