By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Adelord Levesque (ASN: 1550809), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery D, 76th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Sergeant Levesque showed extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty in the engagements at Montfaucon and Cierges, France, 9 – 18 October 1918. Although twice his entire gun crew were killed or wounded and he himself struck, he continued to command his section successfully carrying out the missions assigned to him.
