    By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Adelord Levesque (ASN: 1550809), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Battery D, 76th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Sergeant Levesque showed extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty in the engagements at Montfaucon and Cierges, France, 9 – 18 October 1918. Although twice his entire gun crew were killed or wounded and he himself struck, he continued to command his section successfully carrying out the missions assigned to him.     The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Adelord Levesque (ASN: 1550809), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Battery D, 76th Field Artillery, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Montfaucon, France, 5 October 1918, and near Cierges, France, 18 October 1918. On 5 October when four men of his gun crew were wounded and he himself hit by a shell fragment, Sergeant Levesque kept the gun in action until a new gun crew was organized. On 18 October when an enemy shell burst at his gun, killing or wounding all the gun crew but himself, he again kept to his gun carrying out the mission assigned to him.
